The North Fork Education Initiative (NFEI) is a nonprofit on the North Fork of Long Island offering a new educational model for our community through an independent school and programs that foster community, creativity and sustainability for all on the East End of Long Island.
NFEI is answering a call to revolutionize education by connecting to the whole person and with the whole community through meaningful learning opportunities. Through our programs, we endeavor to meet the academic, social, and emotional need for connection in our community and our world.
Our programs include: 1) a K-8 independent school that uses a holistic, community and project-based, arts integrated curriculum to deepen learning and promote creativity. We work with the whole child and family to foster social, emotional, spiritual, physical and academic well-being. 2) A professional network that works with educators to promote holistic practices and techniques in their classrooms and challenges traditional notions of education in their schools 3) Community-based educational events focused on the arts, sustainability, culture and dialogue that foster reflection, promote creativity and build social capital.
We’ve always known that the North Fork is a special place to live. And, as parents, professionals, and educators we became aware of the possibilities of a community organization that could integrate the physical beauty of this place with the inspiring beauty of the arts, revolutionizing education and community on the East End.
